  10.2025  In the Netherlands most people take their passport for granted. It's just an object you need when going on vacation or when you want to buy alcohol or cigarettes. These passes are actually way more important than you think. They are the key to traveling around the world. This unremarkable object helps you identify yourself yet also says nothing about your personality.

In this magazine we take a closer look at the passport and its cultural and socioeconomic impact. We start at a large scale with the geopolitical impact of the passport. We delve into what it means to have your passport taken away and the results of a country leaving the European union. Then we move in a little closer to see what design elements make up a passport. We quite literally take a looking glass to several passports from around the world. Lastly we watch the impact of the passport on the individual. We look at the discussion of what identification markers should and shouldn’t be on a passport.
